As part of Cybersecurity Awareness month, the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology hosted a Town Hall on Minority Representation in Cybersecurity, a meeting sponsored by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (TX).  Congresswoman Lee was joined by Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez, Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Congresswoman and Judy Chu, Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus in hosting the “Town Hall” meeting.  ICIT also partnered with DHS and ICMCP on this important event.

Speakers including the Honorable Theresa Grafenstine (Inspector General, U.S. House of Representatives), Rodney Petersen (Lead, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, NIST), and ICIT Fellows Dan Waddell (ISC2) and Montana Williams (ISACA) shared their perspectives on how government, academia and industry can work together to deliver better training, education and professional opportunities for communities currently underrepresented in the field of cybersecurity.  The meeting generated a plethora of new ideas as well as commitments by attendees to implement change within their organizations.
